carlie's trash the dress session.

Mar 30, 2010
most frequently asked question: does the dress actually get ruined during a 'trash the dress' photo session?

answer: usually no. the point of trash the dress, is to get non-traditional images of formal gowns in places that you wouldn't normally shoot a bridal or prom portrait. i've seen other photographers that go as far as to put the model and dress underwater... but i'm yet to try that (if you want to let me know...). usually models get away with a little dirt on the train, nothing a quick spot cleaning can't take care of.

this is carlie. you may recognize her from my banner ^ up there! when we started shooting it was quite literally a blizzard outside. this was particularly challenging for me because i had to try and keep the water off my lens or i'd end up with soft/distorted spots all over my images. still, we got some pretty rad stuff. enjoy.

i thought this looked very 'alice in wonderland', i messed with some cropping techniques to make the pic feel a little more fantasy... thoughts?

these are so awesome! I love them! My favorite is the one in the prom dress where she is dipping her toe in the water and looking off to the side. BEAUTIFUL.

and I tried the dodging technique on Blake's eyes today. It was easy and worked perfectly. Thanks for the tip!
